FAQ

Questions people ask

Getting started

Is RepLog free for athletes?

Yes, forever. Logging workouts, form videos, food, macros, the barcode scanner, saved meals, your full history and exporting your data are free. Coaches pay for their plan; their clients never do. See pricing.

Does RepLog work in my country, and in my language?

Yes. RepLog works in any country, in the web app on any phone or computer and in the Android app. When you sign up it asks where you live (already filled in, and you can change it) and which kitchens feel like home: their foods come first in your suggestions, every food stays open to everyone, and your units start as metric or imperial to match. Change any of it in Settings. RepLog speaks 16 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), French, German, Arabic (right to left), Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Russian, Indonesian, Korean, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi. Pick yours when you sign up or in Settings; some screens may still show English while translation finishes. Ask RepLog replies in the language you write in, and coaches can work with clients in any city or country.

Is RepLog on Google Play or the App Store?

Not yet. RepLog is in early access and the Android app is coming to Google Play. Until then, use the web app on any phone or computer, or install the Android build from replog.in/app; when a new version is out, RepLog tells you and installs it in a couple of taps, without signing you out.

Is there an iPhone app, a watch app or widgets?

Android has home-screen widgets for Today, Water, Calories left and the Rest timer, plus a rest timer on the lock screen. Our iPhone app is in development and isn't in the App Store yet, and there is no watch app yet. The iPhone app and a Wear OS watch app are on our public roadmap, where you can vote for them. Until then, iPhone users can use the web app with the same account, and send their Apple Health steps to RepLog with an iPhone Shortcut they set up once (Settings shows how); after that it runs on its own.

Train smarter

What are guided programmes?

Plans that progress week by week. There are 13: First 4 weeks, Home beginner (no equipment), a Couch to 5K-style walk/run, Beginner calisthenics, Strong & steady, Joint-friendly strength and Daily mobility for older adults, Pregnancy strength & mobility and Postpartum return with safety checks, Intermediate hypertrophy (PPL), Strength 5×5, Fat-loss conditioning and a Yoga beginner series. A voice coach can talk you through sessions (in English, and on Android in 11 more of RepLog's languages when your phone has a voice for them), and there are 10, 20 and 30-minute audio-guided walks.

What are Easy, Standard and Pro?

How much detail the app shows. Easy keeps things simple, for example calories without macros. Standard is the everyday view. Pro adds more stats, like your 7-day sets and volume and a full readiness breakdown, and opens workouts in the Advanced view by default. RepLog suggests one from your sign-up answers, and you can switch any time in Settings.

What is immersive mode?

One of three workout modes: Simple, Advanced and Immersive. Immersive goes full screen with a 3D animation of the exercise showing the working muscles, or photos or an animated diagram when there's no 3D version, plus a big clock, last time's numbers and one large button to log each set. The rest timer starts by itself and supersets go round between partners. Record set works in every mode, and you can pause a workout and come back to it.

Does it work without internet in the gym?

Yes, on Android and on the web. Log offline and RepLog syncs when you're back online, without creating duplicates. On Android, videos upload in the background, small enough for mobile data.

Can I bring my history from Strong or Hevy?

Yes. Export a CSV file from Strong or Hevy, or save your own spreadsheet as a CSV, and import it in RepLog. It matches exercise names to the RepLog library, lets you fix any it isn't sure about, and fills in your history, records and charts. Importing the same file twice is safe.

What's in Learn?

Workout has 1,400+ exercises, including full calisthenics progressions and boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, BJJ and self-defence, each taught step by step with cues and common mistakes, and most with easier or harder versions. Nutrition has 1,500+ foods from 70+ countries, from tacos al pastor and bibimbap to jollof rice, pierogi and masala dosa, each with a detailed recipe or tips on how to use it, and macros per serving. There are also 37 calculators with their sources, a fitness dictionary and a science library of public studies. Guided programmes are in Plans.

How does the weekly calorie check-in work?

Once a week RepLog compares your weight trend with the food you logged and estimates how much you really burn. It then suggests a calorie target for your goal, changing it by at most 10% a week. Tap Apply or Keep mine, or let it adjust by itself. During workouts it also suggests a weight for your next set, and a lighter session (about 10% less) when a lift stalls or you miss your reps two sessions in a row. These are estimates, not medical advice.

Can I log food from a photo or a packet?

Yes. Take a photo or pick one from your gallery, and log the photo on its own when you can't weigh anything. Search packaged foods and log them by the piece, like 3 crackers. In Food, tap Scan a packet to scan the barcode, type its number, or photograph the nutrition label: you get the numbers per 100 g, a clear verdict (good choice, okay sometimes or better to limit) with the reasons, and a button to log it.

How are my calorie and macro targets set?

By default from your profile: weight, height, age, sex, goal and training days, using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula with an activity factor. Losing fat takes 20% off, building muscle adds 10%, and they update as you log your weight. The weekly check-in can suggest changes from your weight trend. You can also set your own calories, protein, carbs and fat in grams or percent, plus fibre, sugar, sodium and water. Your coach can set them for you too.

Ask RepLog (AI)

What is Ask RepLog?

An AI assistant in Messages with five characters: Coach Ada (calm and exact, with the why behind every number), Jun the hype coach, Rosa the gentle guide, Noor for tough love, and Kai the deadpan myth-buster. Ask about training, food or the app, or ask for a workout plan with the reason for every exercise, and add it to your plans in one tap. It replies in your language, and each character's chat is saved to your account.

Can I use my own AI key, or turn AI off?

Yes to both. In Settings, under Ask RepLog (AI), pick Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible service and paste your key. RepLog tests it before saving and stores it encrypted; your provider bills you for what you use. Manual mode hides AI shortcuts and suggestions while you log, and Ask RepLog stays in Messages for when you want it.

Can the AI review my form or my workouts?

No, on purpose. Reviews need a human eye, so form videos and workouts go to your coach through your day link or your coach's dashboard. The AI explains technique, answers doubts and writes plans. It isn't medical advice: for pain or injuries, see a doctor or physio.

Recover and health

Is RepLog safe if I'm pregnant, over 60 or have an injury?

RepLog asks about injuries, health conditions, pregnancy and age when you sign up. It uses your answers to suggest gentler starting points, safer exercise swaps and pain check-ins during workouts, and the pregnancy and postpartum programmes check for warning signs before each session. Your answers to the health questions (conditions, pregnancy and the quick safety check) are stored only on your device unless you choose to save them to your account; at sign-up they're also sent to our server with your other answers, but it doesn't keep them. The injuries you type and your age are saved with your profile so your plans fit you. RepLog is education, not medical advice: check with your doctor or physio before you start, and stop if something hurts.

Is there a sexual health section?

Yes: a private education section on sexual health, with a pelvic floor timer. It never appears on Today or in any feed. Discreet mode gives it a neutral name. In the Android app it also keeps the section out of screenshots and the recent-apps view, and you can lock it with your phone's PIN, pattern or fingerprint. In the web app it blurs the page when you switch tabs. It's for learning, not medical advice.

Friends, Moments & messages

How do I find friends, and who can message me?

Everyone has an @handle. Search for a friend's handle or meet people from your gym, send a request, and chat once they accept. Your coach can always message you. When someone new writes, you can add them as a friend, ignore them or block them. On the Friends privacy page (open it from Friends) you choose who can find you (by @handle, by name too, or nobody on a private account) and whether your account is private or public.

What are Moments and Posts?

Moments are a light daily feed: share a photo (with an optional caption) or a finished workout with your friends. Keep the ones you like on your profile, where they show as a Posts grid, and remove any post from your profile and friends' feeds whenever you want; Privacy & consent in Settings can erase all your moments for good. Photos are shared without their location data.

Privacy

Who can see my data?

Your training, food and health data are seen by you, and by your coach once you join them with their coach ID or invite link. Friends see your workout count and anything else you choose to share. If you turn on Ask RepLog, your messages in that chat, any photo or insight you send it, label and meal photos you ask RepLog to read, and a short summary of your profile, recent workouts and food suggestions go to the AI provider so it can answer you. Health answers are included only if you've saved them to your account, and cycle details only if you turn on Use my cycle in Ask RepLog. Moments go to your friends by default; you can share one with your gym circle or keep it to yourself, and on a public account anyone signed in to RepLog can see your posts (except ones set to Only me). Daily review links you share open for anyone with the link. We never sell your data and there are no ads in the app. You can leave a coach or delete your account at any time from Settings.

How do I manage my consent and privacy?

Settings, then Privacy & consent, shows each use of your data and whether it's on, with the date of each choice you make there. Withdraw any consent as easily as you gave it, or delete data by category. It's built around the GDPR and UK GDPR, California's CCPA and India's DPDP Act, with a separate notice for each use of your data, a nominee option and a named privacy contact. Security logs are kept for one year, then deleted. Read the privacy policy for the details.

Can I export my data?

Yes, free, any time. In Settings, Export all my data downloads a ZIP with your workouts, meals, body metrics, steps, messages you sent, AI chats, moments, goals and habits as spreadsheet files.

Where is my data stored?

On RepLog's own servers, currently in India, and every connection to them is encrypted. Form videos you record in the Android app are sent to the server as small review copies by default, and the server copy is deleted 10 months after recording; your full-quality originals stay on your phone. Our privacy policy explains which services help us run RepLog, how your data is protected when it crosses borders, and your rights wherever you live.

How is the sign-in protected?

Password plus a six-digit code sent to your email, every new sign-in.

How do I delete my account?

In the app or on the website, go to Settings and tap Delete my account. Your workouts, meals, videos, messages, AI chats and the rest of your account are permanently deleted from our servers straight away, and we delete older backup copies within 30 days. A few records are kept, as the privacy policy explains: coach billing records (as long as tax law requires), a pseudonymised consent record and security logs (one year each for the last two). Packaged foods you added stay in the shared food list, and any roadmap ideas you posted, abuse reports and support emails stay with us. You can also ask us by email.

For coaches

I'm a coach. How do my clients join?

Pick your coach ID (for example MAYA-FIT) and share your invite link. Clients sign up, answer a few questions about their body, goal and injuries, and appear in your dashboard.
